Five Nail Polish Trends for Winter 2014

Posted by

How do your nails look this winter? If you are still stuck with the pile of neon nail varnish bottles from last summer, and a little unsure about what should grace your nail-drobe this season, we have rounded up the top 5 nail polish trends seen on the catwalks around the world. Time to officially update your winter outfits without breaking the bank!

  • 1.Dark Chic

Dusky hues are a perennial winter trend, and this season makes no exception. Black is the hero colour of cold days, so try our Tarmac Black – it will look really appropriate on your fingertips. Vampy deep purples, the staple shades of the season, look fabulous on every skin tone, especially with a glossy finish. Let your nails glimmer with our sexy Midnight Violet and Black Plum polishes! Dark is synonym to mystery, so go ahead and play this game! Your digits won’t go unnoticed.

  • 2.Almost Nude

Natural shades are summer favourites, but this winter beauty gurus thought they would look really pretty on your nails. Either you go for a white nail polish ( Snow Flake and Cotton are your best bets when it comes to solid whites), or a translucent texture (we’re looking at you, Sterling Shimmer!), you should feel confident about flaunting neutral nails. The big plus here is they will never clash with your outfits and will quietly match any occasion. Oh, and a little chipping will be excused, as well.

  • 3.In the Navy

Navy blue is this season’s darling, perfect for ladies who think black is too daring. Without being overly striking, navy looks great both in daytime and after dark, so wear your shade (we recommend the sassy Hello Sailor polish) with a shiny top coat, and defy the cold weather.

  • 4.Flannel Grey

Just like a soft, warm knit, grey nails will make you feel calm and cosy. Grey is the shade of winter sky, and this alone should be a great excuse for you to wear it. What we really love about grey is the elegance it exudes and its versatility. Match our Feather Light polish with your day outfits, and shimmer at night with 10 dashes of Manic Metal. Superb.

  • 5.Nail Art with a Twist

How about turning your nails into lively works of art this winter? You can go for cubist motifs, graphic patterns, triangular designs, or any kind of geometric shape that you like. We’ve seen them on the catwalks and loved them. Paint lines and patterns onto nude nails to avoid a colour clash, or mix contrasting shades if you feel bold enough.

Pro tip: for artistic nails use metallic shades, such as NougatPeachy Sheen, or Platinum Perfect, and show your sophisticated side.

This winter we’ve got your nail palette covered, pretty ladies!
